Story Behind The Song
Last July I was walking near the water line at Navarro State Beach (Northern CA) and looked away from the ocean, and an unusually large wave came in and washed up high on my legs and I was reminded to "never turn your back on the ocean". That hatched the idea for a song and "Don't talk trash about your mama" popped into my mind. that formed the refrain. The verse lyrics were added over time, taking hints from the lyrics in the refrain.

Lyrics
[Refrain]
Don't talk trash about your mama, even if she's bitch.
Stay away from poison ivy, you may not like the itch.
Don't tell a woman that you love her, if that ain't true emotion.
Don't talk trash about your mama and never turn your back on the ocean.
[V1]
The ocean was calm all day
And never rocked his boat.
Until a sneaker wave washed him away
And that was all she wrote.
[Refrain]
[V2]
Your mama may criticize
The way you live your life.
Find some love though her words
Cut you like a knife.
[Repeat Intro]
[Instrumental - Refrain]
[V3]
A woman will give her heart
When loved and respected.
She'll snatch it back in a heart beat
If she feels neglected.
[Refrain]
[V4]
You may lie and cheat your way to the top
And Jesus will forgive your sins.
Shoot your arrow high as you can
But gravity always wins.
[Repeat Intro]
[Instrumental - Refrain]
[Instrumental - Verse]
[Refrain - sung, with tag]
Don't talk trash about your mama, and don't forget the suntan lotion.
