Violets of Halloween

Story Behind The Song

Look out my window to see violets in the grass on an October day in New Hampshire...

Song Description

I happen to see violets out of my window, a couple days before Halloween, had to look twice to make sure I was seeing violets because it is not something you see in the North in the month of October so close to November.....there was a beautiful Harvest moon on that day... and the very last Rose of Summer was hanging on it's vine making a very vivid picture for my attempt at poetry.

Lyrics

What should my eyes see in the month of Halloween, along with the last rose of summer...I see the heads of a flower what belongs to May, the sweet violet that gave me a taste of spring in that late October day.

The Harvest moon was full in this October time and shining on the flowers of Spring...
then my hand reached and picked those flowers of May before the cold winds could take them away.

So if you have the good fortune to be hold the pretty faces of May, in a late October day,
know the next time they nod their bright little face, will be across the cold winter gales,
into the warmer month of May.

I just know that flower in my October day,
was a smile to me from Springs month of May.
