Song Description
A mournful song about the heartbreak of separation. Two versions available.
As a relationship transitions from friendship to intimacy, what seemed easy to accept as it was happening seems less appropriate with the benefit of the time and reflection that comes the next day.

DAYLIGHT (BUT I WOKE UP THIS MORNING WITH YOU ON MY MIND)

Last night we talked for hours and hours on end
And in the dark, things were easier to say.
We were afraid of the difference, between a lover and a friend
And the dim light helped us to find our way.
But the daylight changes everything around.
And I feel I've lost anything I might have found.
It's hard to remember what it was we left behind.
But I woke up this morning with you on my mind.
Last night I was confused when you said how things must be
And I was silent, knowing not to ask why.
I greedily grabbed your words, hoping I would see
That your answers would be anything but goodbye.
But today I'm back to where I was before.
I don't even want to think about it anymore.
I don't see last night for the sunshine leaves me blind.
But I woke up this morning with you on my mind.
Last night drugged us with wine made of what we wanted to hear
And its warmth made your words easier to believe.
But the morning has struck me sober and left me without fear
Taken away the night and filled me with relief.
And the sun has found me feeling the same way as I did.
For night time explanations can't change, the way, we live.
