Story Behind The Song
This is a song I wrote in a season where I was trying to decide between a career I had always assumed I'd have, and chasing a dream of pursuing a music career. I'd been told forever that I was a worship leader, and that I belonged in a church. But I thought I saw something different in myself, and needed to chase that even if it meant I failed and lost everything. This is a song about the inner struggle I faced, and how I was feeling about the situation and being ready for something new.
Song Description
A hard-driving modern country song with great visuals and emotion. The style is reminiscent of roots rock and classic rock in the vein of John Mellencamp and Bruce Springsteen with a decidedly modern sound.

Lyrics
I gotta get out, I gotta find a way to break this stained glass ceiling
Gotta go now, break out of this 4 wall, iron ball, 9 to 5'er
Get gone, like a melody you can't recall
Its been too long since the highway air has graced my lungs
And there's probably a moral somewhere in this,
The grass always grows greener, whoa oh
but even Aesop never felt the way I do today.
I'm gonna run as far as I can go, follow white lines and yellow brick
I'm gonna climb up high and pretend that I have wings.
And even if I find myself between the devil and the deep blue sea,
At least I will have gone down chasing me
I gotta get out, before the water seeping in covers my head
I need to step out and hope to God that I can swim
It's been too long chasing someone else's dream
So I'm cranking "Lucky Denver Mint",
putting my foot on the gas, and hair in the wind
And there's probably a moral somewhere in this,
The grass always grows greener, whoa oh
but even Aesop never felt the way I do today.
I'm gonna run as far as I can go, follow white lines and yellow brick
I'm gonna climb up high and pretend that I have wings.
And even if I find myself between the devil and the deep blue sea,
At least I will have gone down chasing me
I'm gonna run as far as I can go, follow white lines and yellow brick
I'm gonna climb up high and pretend that I have wings.
And even if I find myself between the devil and the deep blue sea,
At least I will have gone down chasing me
