Story Behind The Song
I saw a young business couple in a restaurant with their child on her 2nd birthday. They seemed as if they did not like having to take time out of their busy schedules to have birthday cake. They teased and provoked her, and then punished her for acting out. I felt empathy for the little girl and wrote this song.

Lyrics
Please Daddy don't be mad at me
'Cause I don't understand
It hurts me when you yell at me
And I feel your stinging hand
You expect too much of me
I'm not as wise as you
I don't know all the rules you know
After all I'm only two
Remember your two year old shoes were once new
My little feet can't move as fast as yours do
Take a step in my two year old shoes
Try on my two year old shoes
I want you to be proud of me
but you never take the time
To put on my two year old shoes
And listen when I cry
Please Mommy don't be mad at me
When I don't understand
I'm breaking in my two year old shoes
I need your steady hand
