Story Behind The Song
Although I am an Australian, I wrote this song while sitting on a Greyhound Bus passing through Kentucky, along the Mississippi near the Missouri border. I was drinking Jack Daniels.

Lyrics
Kentucky Water
This old river keeps on flowing
And now the sun is breaking through
I?ve been gone for so long honey
But I?m coming back to you
The years roll by just like the river
And through these years our lives have grown
But I know my biggest sorrow
Was when I left you on your own
Well I hope that you?ll be waiting 'cause I?m counting on your smile
Though I know there?s no reason why I should
'Cept you and I know that we belong together
And this time I?m staying put
Kentucky water, Missouri sky
Mississippi River rolling high
This Tennessee whiskey is tasting so fine
And I?m coming back to you
This steamboat keeps on heading through these miles I have known
And missed during my lonely days away
But I won?t be leaving this homeland that I love
Or your arms where I belong
Kentucky water, Missouri sky
Mississippi River rolling high
This Tennessee whiskey is tasting so fine
And I?m coming back to you
