Story Behind The Song
Started composing using different tunings of my guitar
it forces you to think in a different direction..it limits but also gives a different angle..Originally written in open d-tuning. My first duet, I always like a twist in a song..I was intrigued by soldiers that are send on a mission and leave their loved ones behind..Time may soften wounds..but also creates a distance..Meant to be this way in order to survive I believe..First part is from soldier`s perspective..second part from his girl or wife. They sing together war is over..but so is their relationship..I just like these twists in lyrics..For me no "tonite i will love you like never before". It may be the case but no one wants to know....

Lyrics
Home coming
(Male singing)
Mary, war is over
Mary, I am coming home
Out of the war zone twilights
Into the meadows dawn
Mary, are you waiting or
Mary will you be gone?
I have cried in my darkest hours
From the depths of my lost soul
My memories kept me alive for so long
But this world seems strange and wrong
My memories have fled now darling
Where we parted too long?
Mary, war is over
But Mary you`re no longer home
Out of the war zone twilights
Into the meadows dawn
(Female singing)
Johnny, war is over
Johnny, you are coming home
Out of the war zone twilights
Into the meadows dawn
Johnny, I have been waiting
But Johnny my love is gone
I have cried in my darkest hours
From the depths of my lost soul
My memories kept me alive for so long
But this world seems strange and wrong
My memories have fled now darling
We were parted too long
Johnny war is over
But Johnny I am no longer home
Out of the war zone twilights
Into the meadows dawn
Together
Mary/Johnny war is over
Mary/Johnny war is over (fade out)
