Lyrics
TRAIL OF TEARS
© Frosty Lawson, Felipe Rose
(Verse 1)
One tribe-one hope,
One trail-one road.
One heart-one seed,
Proud people with not enough to eat.
Walking down the TRAIL OF TEARS
(Verse 2)
They felt -the pain,
Blood flowed-Black rain.
They held-their heads high,
On a TRAIL OF TEARS, They weren't afraid to die.
(Chorus 1)
One Tribe-One Hope
Walking down the TRAIL OF TEARS
One Trail-One Road
Crying on a TRAIL OF TEARS
(Spoken)
Tattered sandles-bleeding feet,
Not knowing-what is theirs to keep.
From a Mother's tear-came a Cherokee Rose,
An angel's flower-white as driven snow.
And yet they lost-their Land of Gold,
A Cherokee Nation-crying for its soul.
(Chorus 2)
One Tribe-One Hope
Walking down the TRAIL OF TEARS
One Trail-One Road
Crying on a TRAIL OF TEARS
One Tribe-One Hope
Living on a TRAIL OF TEARS
One Trail-One Road
Dyin' on the TRAIL OF TEARS
(Verse 3)
Let's remember-what was lost,
A sovereign nation-a sacred cause.
Now we're stronger-than before,
What we know now won't hurt us anymore.
(Chorus 3)
