Story Behind The Song
those hours with a dying loved one are sacred and special in ways hard to describe. the very sense of presence is magnified and calls us to the present moment in ways powerful and deep. this is what i learned there.
Song Description
standing beside a loved one who crosses over the River Jordan and into God's Eternal Hands. There is something deep and life fulfilling there; not spoken of often enough, it seems to me. It is unbearably sad, and peaceful at the same time. It teaches us to be in the present moment.

Lyrics
In these last hours
'tis the simple truth of being
that we take so much for granted
that rests upon my senses
like a gentle falling rain
and i marvel
at the clearness of my vision
and the depth of my deception
that sometimes it is my tear alone that show me i'm in pain
for each moment holds the terror and the wonder of all living
holds the power and the helplessness of giving I'll always love you
in those last hours, it was the simple truth of being, that we take so much for granted, that rested on my senses like the falling rain; as i marvelled at the depth of my deception and the clearness of my vision; while my vigil was my only prayer - that you were not in pain. and i swore then, that i would never turn from what i learned there; i will live out my whole life with this sweet song as my refrain; i am forever; i am forever changed. I'll always love you.
