Story Behind The Song
...This started as a letter to President Obama. It ended up being a plea to our whole nation. I am asking people to try to work together as a nation, to be civil to each other, to create a home that is not only healthy for us and our children, but which will re-claim our role in the world as the inspiration of people from all nations. I'm asking us to clean up our act here at home. The song started out just being a lyric...a bunch of thoughts, and became sort of country. I hope it catches on and becomes a new national song...inspiring us all to become the best people we can...the best Americans we can be...

Thank you Mister President for bringin' the troops back home.
We got plenty of battles to fight right here at home.
We've got people who hate us.
Even tho they don' even know us.
Here @ home
Here @ home
So here we must stand together.
Together we must fight our own little devils - right here at home.
People hate who we are tho they don't e ven know us.
People beat you senseless because of how you were born.
Don't care how great this country is... they're ready to tear it apart.
They hate you for your quiet strength.
They don't under stand.
We share the wealth and happiness we've created here and now.

Listen mister president, i'm teaching my child to share.
She is learning the lesson well right here at home.
She's the present and we are the past.
Her future is comin' fast.
Here @ home
Here @ home
So please Mister President keep her safe.
For she is the hope we'll reach a new level.
No matter what color we are and no matter how we pray, we're all members of a big ol' family
But caring must be taught to children... plenty of families fight.
We're brothers and sisters who follow the light
Learn to live together 'sted of fighting in the night...

Here at home
Here at home
Here at home
But before we teach the rest of the world, we've got to get it right...
