Story Behind The Song
I had mutual friends on Facebook with a lady who posted something about how hard it is to make a U-Turn on Burnside Rd. in Portland, Oregon (something you would only understand if you had lived there).
I responded to the post cracking up and agreeing. She felt in her spirit I would be the one who would Host her program.
She messaged me and asked if I had any demo's of me doing voice-overs I could send her. I had just created a video intro with accompanying voice over for my live stage show, so I sent it to her. She loved it!
She then asked if I would be interested in creating a song for the documentary. I was more than willing. She flew me to St. Croix in the Caribbean Island and we shot it in 8 hours flat... Then we went kayaking, horse back riding in the ocean and snorkeling.
Not a bad way to end a work day that didn't seem much like work in the first place! I own 100% of the song.
Song Description
This song was written originally for a documentary on end of life care for Hospice Care patients targeting the African-American community. I wanted to create a song that would help eliminate the fear most of us have about the dying process by walking through it first hand with the listener.

Lyrics
(1st Verse)
As I near the rivers rushing swelling tide
I hear your gentle whisper, "Fear not I'm by your side
Crossing over-- I'll be there".
Anticipation, will I be alright?
I breathe deep your breath
that gives me life
I remember-- all you said. (Ohhh)
(Pre-Chorus)
I can hear the river crashing, shouting out it's rage.?
Playing on my fears
no more of that today.
?I will (I will) cross over (cross over)
I shed tears (Shed tears) grown older. I've come of age-- I see the other side. Grown wiser, I know that it's my time to reach...
(Chorus)
Reach across-- beyond the stars. (Trust love will never let you fade away).
Reach across-- find what's lost. (His love already paved the way).
Reach across-- beyond the stars. (Trust the love that always saves the day).
Your light is shining-- the Son is rising-- March on, march on, march on.
(2nd Verse)
Walking through the waters billowing tides
I feel your presence
my spirits open wide
I'm a moment--- I'll be there.
Exhileration
empowered by your might
I breathe deep your breath that gives me strenth to fight.
Vicory is mine-- through the end. (Oooh, ooh oh)
(Pre-Chorus)
(Chorus)
(Bridge)
All I see is all you are
Where you are is never too far
Comfort lies inside your arms
One more step and I'm across.
(Chorus Out)
