Riding Free © Jeff Ashbaker

The sun is sinking in the valley, there it goes
The wind is weeping soft and low
The moon is rising on the hillside up above
Showing signs of faded love

---Chorus---
And though I'm, riding free
I'm still shakled, I can't see
Blinded by your memory
Riding free, through the rivers to the sea
But no one's waiting there for me
----------------------

My shadow's dancing, with a demon in the night
Afraid to see the morning light
I'm riding hard and fast, to break the chains that bind
Leave your memory behind

Fantastic traditional country song and arrangement. Nice violin and lead guitar work as well.

Here's an extremely well-written, polished cowboy country song that shines (like the moon) from the first to the last verse. Full of beautiful word pictures, the song tells the story of love lost and a man riding hard to be free, yet shackled/blinded by the memory of his love. The instrumentation is stellar on this song. I hear a fiddle player and lead electric guitar player doing a fantastic job with a great bass as well. Nicely mixed.
Great production!

Awesome. I really like your sound. I love the fiddle in the background, the drive and movement. Vocals are great, great lyrics. Well done! I will be checking out more of your stuff for sure.

Great instrumental. Loved the guitar. It's all put together just right, I love the feel of it, and close my eyes and picture the artist. This is a great song, I love it, and find nothing wrong with it at all. I think it would go far in any group or person. Hope to hear more from you, and I will go to your page and listen to more.

Tune has a traditional 'older country' feel and sound, but with a bit of a modern feel. Bounced between Shackled and Ridin' Free for title, went with Ridin' since it started the chorus out. Great guitar and fiddle fills on leads , very tasteful. The breaks toward the end were a nice touch! The interjection of an "odd" or unexpected chord was clever.

I really like the traditional country feel, with the contemporary mix. The guitarist has some crazy cool licks. It is very fresh to her a song structure that is more AABA than the usual verse/chorus/verse/chorus that seems to be the only thing on current country radio these days. The band is super tight (if this is a studio creation, nice job on it feeling like a real band).

This is a good song. Every song has their own message, but not everyone can display it like it should be. So, those who can keep on with it deserve what theyre trying to achieve. I could see this being on the radio.

Just spot on...sounds Cowboy Western......LOVE IT!! Love the vocalist, love the instrumentation! It's a HIT in my mind!!! It's ready for the World and a cool song for a Cowboy Film!!! Great Job Little Doggy.........

Very enjoyable. Nice balanced production.
Good lyrics.

I liked the melody and the deep country tone in your voice. You did some really good guitar work in this song. It had a good moderate pace that did not seem to fast for the vocals. The recording seemed clear and I could hear the vocals well. Very good song that I enjoyed listening to.

Great vocal & guitar playing! Well done.
