Lyrics

We Shall Stand Free

(c)Jeff Ashbaker 909-793-0245

As you float on the water
You will rise from the sea
You have walked through the valley
Across the desert to the shade of the tree
And the heroes walk beside you
Just to guide you til you see
That toghether
We shall stand free

And my kinfolk sailed among you
Soared above you on the winds
And I am here to tell you
With this song Ican sing
That you're as much the hero
As anyone could be
And together
We shall stand free

And the fires rage below you
Just to show you of our struggle
But the birds fly above you
As an echo to our love
And the heroes stand behind you
To remind you what you know
That together
We shall stand free

And the people will remember
As the ember melts away
And you won't be forgotten
For our history shall say
That we all love our freedom
Like a sailor loves the sea
That together
We shall stand free

And the fires rage below us
Just to show us of your struggle
But the birds fly above us
As an echo to your love
And the heroes stand among us
For it's from us it will be
That together
We shall stand free

And the fires rage below us
Just to show us of our struggle
But the birds fly above us
To remind us of our love
And ther heroes stand among us
For it's from us it will be
That together
We shall stand free

For when a people stand together
They shall stand free

Good tribute song!

again, a very good song

A fine tune indeed, well constructed, performed and recorded. Has an anthemic character. -- Love the vocal quality, the subtle harmony accompaniment, the effectively simple harmonica break ala Mr. Zimmerman -- the overall message.

I loved it, loved it, loved it. Let me first say this is not my genre of music that I listen too. But thank you so much for this. I found myself really enjoying this song. I find that as a song composer trying to expand my horizons, songs like this explains why all musicians should listen to other genres. This is definitely the kind of song our nation needs today. Thank you.

we need more songs like this more than ever! Thanks!

I love folk music like this...honest vocals sound so real and engaging. Almost has the feel of a sea shanty, definitely a song of appreciation for the immigrants who came over to make this country what it is today. Woody Guthrie would probably like this song...the first verse of your song reminded me of "This Land is Your Land." Nice guitar, bass and harmonica...all flows seamlessly through the song. I like the nod to Anchors Aweigh in the ending harmonics!

Nice song. Very enjoyable. Crosses over a few genres. Start with Folk though. Balanced production with Vocals out front.

I liked the melody, it fit the vocal and the story of the song.
