Story Behind The Song
I was asked to write a hit country song. Coming more from the pop music side, I bought a couple of George Strait albums and listened for a couple days on my iPod. Then I wrote the song.
Song Description
If you are going to break-up with me - tell me. Don't just let me hangin and then find out from others that it is all over. If you are going to breakup with me, do it right!

Lyrics
Do It Right
Words & Music by Johnny Rodgers
I found out on Tuesday,
Someone broke the news,
They finally let me know
You're letting go.
Wish you could have been the one
to call and say "What's done is done,"
A real goodbye.
It's not like you to act so shy.
Pick up the phone and call me.
Meet me out for coffee.
Give me one more chance with you tonight.
Say it in my ear
before you up and disappear.
If you're gonna do it,
Do It Right.
It's prob'ly just as well
you didn't have the chance to tell
me all your reasons why
This is goodbye.
I just want you to know,
Although I'm not as perfect as a man could be,
I tried to give the best of me.
Pick up the phone and call me.
Meet me out for coffee.
Give me one more chance with you tonight.
Say it in my ear
before you up and disappear.
If you're gonna do it,
Do It Right.
'Cause I have a right to hear it,
Hear it straight from you.
I'm drownin' in these rumors
and I don't know what to do.
So come on, babe, just say it.
Tell me you don't care.
Don't you think that honesty is fair?
Pick up the phone and call me.
Meet me out for coffee.
Give me one more chance with you tonight.
Tell me loud and clear
before you up and disappear.
If you're gonna break it,
Come on, babe... I can take it.
If you're gonna do it,
Do It Right.
