Story Behind The Song
Back when I first met my wife Ann, she had just gotton out of a horribly abusive relationship. This song is about how much of a cold fish she was when I was courting her. Much to her chegrin, I never let up and she finally took her gaurd down. She's still the same acrobat 5 years later.

Lyrics
I fell in love with an acrobat
She juggled my heart today
She won't drive me away
Her blood runs cold as a matter a fact
She wishes my crush would fade
And I'd step into the shade
I'd step in-to the shade
Before the sun burns its last day, will she ever stay?
She kisses just like a Cadillac
She guzzles my gas tonight
As she takes off out of sight
Her last boyfriend nearly broke her back
She?s dreading another fight
As I step into the light
I step into the light
Before the sun burns its last day, will she ever stay?
Before this world turns black and gray, will I hear her say?
I want you, I need you to love me
Before I die I'd like to fly a little, soar forever
Until that day I think I'll pay my dues here on my endeavor
And my success will lead me to safe green pastures, sky?s of fortunes
And when that's gone, I've reached the end
I will fly on I will ascend
I fell in love with an acrobat
Retired and on her way
To knowing love's here to stay
Her blood has warmed as a matter of fact
The scar on her heart will fade
As we step into the shade
We step into the shade
Before the sun burns its last day, will she ever stay
Before this world turns black and gray, will I hear her say
I want you, I need you to love me
