Story Behind The Song
The lyrics from this song took several years to complete, unlike others which just seem to pop out whole. I wanted to convey something dark and dangerous in this song, which I feel is at the heart of our fears and which stops us from being whole.
Song Description
A sad song about deceiving oneself that everything is alright, and of being afraid to show feelings. Underlying this is the fear that the dark side of humanity lurks, and must be kept in check.

Lyrics
Stupid Lies
We can cry at the old movies
When we think that no one's there
And hope that no one's listening
As we kneel to say our prayers
For it's still too much to compromise
Or say we really care.
And so we keep pretending it's dust in our eyes
How can you tell apart the truth from all those stupid lies.
The trick with the mirror
Holds the key to your success
It's in your reflection
Each extravagant excess.
There are ways to cover up the sorrow that you feel
And so you keep pretending it's dust in your eyes
How can you tell apart the truth from all those stupid lies.
In that moment when you realise
There's an empty space to fill
That never feels satisfied.
For everything you do out of faith
In a painful world
How can you stand tall
When you have so much to hide
The secret thoughst of hunters
As they feel the rushing thrill
Holds some fascination for me
So quiet and so still.
If I should have a passion that would make me wish to kill
It would course through me like poison
Like the things I despise
How can you tell apart the truth from all those stupid lies.
