Story Behind The Song
I was challlenged to write a pop song about the Statue of Liberty. I chose the addition of children's voices and a military snare drum in the texture of the song to elicit the thoughts and feelings of Liberty, a bright future, and the price that was paid for our liberty so that we can have that future for our children and their children.
Song Description
This is a song about remembering the tradition of Freedom in America, and the people who came from all over the world just to be a part of our system of liberty. It celebrates the Statue of Liberty and all she stands for.

Lyrics
THE GOLDEN DOOR
There comes a time in history when choices must be made,
The crying voices must be heard, and prices must be paid
The time to stand upon the firm foundation
That made this land a great and mighty Nation
"Send your tired, your poor to me,
The land of Lady Liberty
Your homeless, tempest tossed to me
The captives yearning to breathe free
I stand, a beacon on the shore
For those who live and long for more
I lift my lamp beside the golden door
The golden door."
She stands there in the harbor with a torch to light the way
A promise for tomorrow, for a bright and better day
Her silent song will mend the broken spirit
Just listen with your heart, and you will hear it
She says: "Send your tired, your poor to me,
The land of Lady Liberty
Your homeless, tempest tossed to me
The captives yearning to breathe free
I stand, a beacon on the shore
For those who live and long for more
I lift my lamp beside the golden door
The golden door."
Let Freedom ring from sea to shining sea
May God protect and bless the land of liberty
(CHORUS)
" I lift my lamp beside the golden door, the gold---den door."
