Story Behind The Song

"Side by Side (Together at Last)" is a song about friendship, relationship, community, and togetherness. I originally wrote it in 2014, and recorded an earlier version of it, but the song has evolved over time and I rewrote it earlier this year (2020). I decided to produce the new version after the Covid-19 -related shutdown, because everyone is so lonely and when I shared it online people liked it. So, I thought this was a good time to polish it up.

Song Description

"Side by Side (Together at Last)" is a song about friendship, relationship, community, and togetherness. It's about shifting from "me" to "we" in how we make sense of ourselves and our lives, because that shift in identity is what we need to get through difficult times collectively and interpersonally. We also need to shift to a larger sense of "who we are" to take care of the natural world, because it is a false sense of separation from nature that allows us to degrade the environment.
