When he was oh so young
He went seeking adventure on his own
After many years of drifting
He got tired and decided to head back home
Once he got back to his roots
Found he didn?t belong there any more
Like John pointed out to Charlie
He was just a ghost there and nothing more
Had no place that felt like home
No one felt like his family
Had no place he belonged
No place he felt like he should be
CHORUS
You can?t go back
You can?t go back oh no
You can?t go back
You can?t go back oh no
You can?t go back
You can?t go back oh no
You can?t go back
You can?t go back oh no
Felt like his soul was lost at sea
Didn?t have a clue where he should go
Yet he set off for new shores
Had to find a place that felt like home
Hope to find some fertile ground
Plant his roots and settle down
Find a place where he would be content
Getting tired of all this drifting around
Find a place that felt like home
And start his own family
Find a place where he?d belong
A place he?d feel like he should be
CHORUS
Instrumental break
