Lyrics

Somebody's Daughter
Written by Ken Matthiesen/Curtis Lee 06/29/2012 Copyright 2012

(Verse 1)
Cruising the dark streets of the city
My heart pounding hard in my wheels
I catch a glimpse of something pretty
Standing in shiny worn heels

(Chorus)
Somebody's daughter
Somebody's friend
A loving sister
Like auntie M
Oh, I wonder what happened
To her dreams from long ago
L.A. fabulous and fancy and famous (don't you know)
I don't think she'll ever get to know

(Verse 2)
An angel living under a lamp post
Trying hard to look seventeen
She sells her body like a wholesale store
Forgotten is what she could have been

(Repeat chorus)

(Bridge)
Standing around with her head hanging down
Her tinsel being worn on the wrong side of town
Standing around with her head hanging down
I don't think she'll ever get to know

(Repeat chorus)

Why didn't she just go home

It's difficult to write an up tempo sad story song but you did it and made it work...I loved the quality of your vocal...the overall arrangement and musicianship was excellent...The minor chord progression painted a dark picture which enhanced the subject matter...at 2:30 it's perfect for commercial radio and for use as background music in a tv show or movie...good luck with it...I enjoyed reviewing it...

Great acoustic guitar anchoring the song. Nice vocal.

Good solid acoustic song. Good instrumentation and arrangement

I liked the melody and lyric mix. I chose "Somebody's Daughter" as a title because, it hits a universal nerve that is on the minds of anyone who has or had a family to take care of. It is very moving lyrically.

It was a song that captured me from the beginning, great beat, instrumentation and voice
