I wrote you a poem this morning
But to me it is not complete
Cause all these words can't tell you
What you mean to me

I'll read it to you when I see you
Tonight...on this Valentine's day
I'm sure you'll say you love it
But believe me when I say

There's something missing
This poem isn't whole
Cause words of love
Are written with the soul
So hold on tightly
And blend your heart with mine
I need your touch to put the final touch
On this UNFINISHED VALENTINE

I studied Shakespearean sonnets
I looked into Cyrano's mind
I copied ev'ry meter
I polished ev'ry rhyme
But still every thing came up empty
It came as no wild surprise
That none of this has meaning
Till I look into your eyes

There's something missing
This poem isn't whole

And if I wrote five hundred more
I'd realize as I walked through your door
