Story Behind The Song
The story is true and the home was the place I shared ten years of my life with my parents in Sedalia, Ky. I was the only child of six to actually live in that house with Mom and Dad.
Song Description
The lyrical form does break some of the typical songwriting rules, but I like the song "as is" and I think the story I'm wanting to tell and the emotional impact is all there. Most people who listen to it tell me they feel the "nostalgia" and that's what

Lyrics
HOME AGAIN
Written by Lisa Courtney
Copyright: Sept. 2003
The family?s all here
To commemorate the day
Soon they?ll take away the old home place
Where Mom and Dad raised me.
We gathered around
There was rhetoric and prayer
The occasion was a solemn one
As memories were shared.
Bridge:
Like a camera in my mind
Flashbacks of a happier time
Mama?s in the kitchen
Daddy?s in his chair.
I know you?re made of wood
But the * love (lives) inside
Breathe life in you
And make you feel alive.
2nd Verse:
I made it through the day;
No one would have ever guessed.
How much my heart was breaking?
Or the loneliness I felt.
The day they took you down,
I was out of town.
No time to be alone in you
Or pay my last respects.
Bridge:
But I guess God takes care of things
As only he can do cause the night before
I dreamed I was there
Flying through each room.
But it wasn?t stark or shabby
It was full of all the things
That made that house a happy home
For Me and Mom and Dad.
Tag:
Like an echo from the past
I can here the back door slamming
I?m home again
Yes I?m home again__
Mama?s in the kitchen
Daddy?s in his chair_
Just me and Mom and Dad!
Hum, Hum, Hum, Hum!
* Change the word "lives: to love in that verse would improve the lyric line.
