Story Behind The Song
I performed a workshop on using music for positive messaging at Boston's hip hop festival. The kids in the audience were asked how many of them knew someone who had been shot or killed and most of the hundreds of kids in the audience raised their hands.

Lyrics
Stop the Violence!
Stop the violence! X 4
Two friends, to the end, hangin? out again, walkin? through the park, before dark
On their own, all alone, not quite grown
Two like one, havin? fun, like they?ve always done, hurtin? no one
Two friends playin? ball, not lookin? for a brawl, after all, it?s a park where people walk and talk
Stop the violence! X 2
Two men also in the park, before dark, start to talk, anger sparks,
One pulls a gun, shoots the other one, in the head, so he?s dead
?Nother bullet goes astray, comes our way, time to pray
Wounds could not be mended, no way to defend it, my friend falls down, on the ground, our friendship ended
Only way to live is pretend it?s not real ? don?t feel; pretend it?s not real ? don?t feel
Stop the violence! X 2
No! I can?t believe this
Wake up every night again and I see this
Too many people gettin' shot
Violence hurtin' every friend I got
Stop the violence! X 4
The man with the gun, who killed the other one; who shot my friend and gave me wounds that won?t mend
He did not prevail. ?Cause a violent male, ends up in jail without bail
His life is done. He kills his freedom with his gun
So everyone?.looses with violence
Stop the violence!
