Story Behind The Song

Around 2010, I was getting many 'divine nudges" about songwriting. I was finally convinced to give it a try - having had no experience with it! I came up with a tune, and 5 lines that essentially became the first verse. I had no idea if it was a chorus or verse! While hanging out with a couple friends, I hung my head and said "well I kinda...maybe..came up with a song". After 20 minutes of them saying "SING IT!" I finally did. (they didn't have any significant songwriting experience, either!) They (Deb and Gail) both had lyrical ideas, then Gail played her harp to it...I started singing a high harmony part, then when I heard the playback I was amazed...there had to have been divine assistance! We attempted to do a short recording in August of 2010 but it wasn't anything close to acceptable for release. After that, we all had tremendous challenges - we all lost our homes, and moved a total of 6 times between the three of us. Every time I would hear the short recording of the song on my mp3 player I thought; "No I CANNOT let this song just die - I HAVE to finish it somehow". An affordable, but talented new studio came into my life, along with a little bit of funds. I got the other girls together, we wrote a second verse, and FINALLY in Sept 2012 we were able to record a real version of the song. Since then I have had the confidence to write more of my own stuff, and am slowly moving forward on that as time and budget permit. It is SO rewarding when I get positive feedback about the inspiration of the song...especially after all the struggles we overcame to get it done. Thanks for listening!!
