Story Behind The Song
Teacher was written as part of a collection of songs that were inspired by the classic rock of the 70s and 80s. The song started with a simple chord progression on the acoustic guitar and was built form there. Once the instrumentation and arrangement fell into place, lyrics were written and vocals recorded. The song was used as the final track on Matthew C. Bauder's "How To Make A Dime" Album.

Lyrics
Verse 1
Another lover's come and gone
To leave you on your own
Your jaded hearts been broken so many times
But you just can't seem to sleep at night alone
Nobody ever told you why
Nobody ever showed you how
And every lesson that you learned was on your own
But it's time for you to be the teacher now.
Chorus 1
Na na na na-- Na- na na Na na na na-- Na- na na Na na na na-- Na- na na -------
Na na na na-- Na- na na Na na na na-- Na- na na Na na na na-- Na- na na -------
Verse 2
Living from hand to mouth
No place to call your home
Trying to grow into the shoes you had to fill
Still you've managed to kill every seed you've sown
Nobody ever told you why
Nobody ever showed you how
And every lesson that you learned was on your own
But it's time for you to be the teacher now.
Chorus 2
Na na na na-- Na- na na Na na na na-- Na- na na Na na na na-- Na- na na -------
Na na na na-- Na- na na Na na na na-- Na- na na Na na na na-- Na- na na -------
Verse 3
Ten years have come and gone
Lost in the afterglow
You say today's the day you're gonna make a change
But you're left with just the pain you can't let go
Nobody ever told you why
Nobody ever showed you how
And every lesson that you learned was on your own
But it's time for you to be the teacher now
Yes, it's time for you to be the teacher now
Yes, it's time for you to be the teacher now
