Story Behind The Song
I wanted to write a positive, upbeat Love song based on Paulo Coelho's novel THE PILGRIMAGE... something fun, and lovable, yet passionate and heartfelt. I had been listening to Eddie Vedder's INTO THE WILD soundtrack, and was inspired by his haunting vocals on "THE WOLF" and "HARD SUN". I had finished writing and recording my version of THE ALCHEMIST a few months before and recorded a live video for YouTube of THE PILGRIMAGE and sent it to Paulo Coelho and his publishers earlier this year. Song Description
I wrote THE PILGRIMAGE based on a Novel of the same name by legendary brazilian author, Paulo Coelho. This song (and the book) is a companion follow-up to THE ALCHEMIST (which, according to Wikipedia: "has sold more than 65 million copies in more than 150 countries, becoming one of the best-selling books in history.") If the Alchemist is subtitled "a parable about finding your dreams", then THE PILGRIMAGE is the real-life journey of the author to find enlightenment, hope, and LOVE in 3 parts (Eros, Philos, and Agape). ;-)
