Story Behind The Song
My father (R.I.P.) many years ago asked me to write a gospel song for his church. Since he was not in the habit of asking for help of any kind, I said that I would try (never having written in that genre or being a church goer myself). Surprisingly, the song came very easily to me and changed my relationship with my father for the better. I, through the song had touched him in a way that I otherwise would never have been able to.

Lyrics
The Garden - Martin Dorren
See the little children alone in the dark
Full of sadness and pain.
Some of them have stubled and grown up too fast
Some just don't know to stay out of the rain.
And it makes me wonder what God has in store
What angel will he send.
I look into the mirror to see for my self.
Their future will lay in my trembling hands.
In the garden of my silent heart
Jesus tells me what's right.
Makes me just want to stop and think
My God, I must not lose this fight
Oh my God, I cannot lose this fight.
See the lonely people so starving for love
Full of anger and tears.
They look into the past and are filled with remorse.
They look to the future and only see fear.
And it makes me wonder how God will respond
To all their silent prayers.
I look into the mirroe and see for myself.
The answer will lie in my loving care.
In the garden of my silent heart
Jesus shows me the light.
Makes me just want to stop and think
My God, it will be alright
Oh my God, it will be alright
In this world full of too many words
I silence my heart so that Jesus is heard
In the garden of my silent heart
Jesus gives me his might.
Makes me just want to stop and listen
My God, I can almost see the Light
Oh my God, oh my Lord
Oh my God, oh my Lord
Oh my God, I can see the Light
