Story Behind The Song
While living in Trinidad and Tobago I met the wife of a diplomat, she was elegant. Since diplomatic families travel, I came up with the idea of naming her the gypsy queen. She was very kind and wise, so I reflected on our lives and wrote her a song as a goodbye gift. She moved to Ciudad Juarez with her husband.

Lyrics
She travelled so many foreign lands.
With a leather bound book in her hands.
And her babies and hopes and dreams in tow.
Like a nomad living on the sand.
She travelled from land to land to land.
Not knowing next where they would go.
Chorus
Life Like A Gypsy, Life like a gypsy, life like a gypsy queen.
Life like a gypsy, life like a gypsy, life like a gypsy queen.
For a while our paths came together
and she read to me from her book of leather
and I saw my own reflection in her eyes.
Knowing her to be the wiser of us two
I asked her why we live the life that we do.
Not know next where we will go.
Repeat Chorus
She looked at me with a kind smile.
And said with her own way of clarity and style.
You know why we choose the life we do.
And the answer is plain and clear to see
And its the same for you as it is for me
Not knowing next where we will go .
Repeat Chorus
(and tag)
To follow our gypsy, to follow our gypsy, to follow my gypsy kings.
To follow my gypsy, to follow my gypsy, to follow my gypsy king.
