Story Behind The Song
I wrote this song after a huge loss in my life. That summer every theatre I'd ever worked in threw me a role. Each night I'd take refuge in the darkness backstage and step out into the light only as someone else. During the daylight hours I walked. I walked and thought and tried to figure where it is I was meant to go now that my life had been completely upended. I walked and I sang. I made songs to the rhythm of my feet on the macadam. I sang to the tune of the wind in the trees. You see, he told me that he'd come back to me as the wind, so I listened for him everyday. One day, the air was so still I was sure he'd abandoned me. So I asked him in song: "Where are you wind now?"
Song Description
Before he died, he told her he would come back to her as the wind. And now on a still, hot, summer night, she's wondering if he's abandoned her here alone.

Lyrics
Weather man says the wind's out of the southeast today
Traveling at zero miles per hour (that's pretty damn slow)
What I need to know is where's the air that's going to lift these beads of sweat from my brow?
Where are you wind now?
The wind through the trees tends to ease my mind
blowing the clouds around reveals a silver lining
What I need to know is where's the breeze that's going to ease these furrowed lines from my brow?
Where are you wind now?
You told me that you'd come back like the wind into my life
To remind me of all the things I've learned through the sorrow and the strife.
I'm listening for the wind now as it brushes through the trees
I'm praying that you'll answer me with the rustle of the leaves
Answer somehow
Where are you wind now?
I wish the wind would carry me though my everyday
It's absence leaves me wondering why I came this way
What I'm praying for is a gale to blow my mind and leave behind these thoughts of you
Come on wind blow through
And you told me that you'd come back like the wind into my life
To remind me of all the things I've learned through the sorrow and the strife.
I'm listening for the wind now as it brushes through the trees
I'm praying that you'll answer me with the rustle of the leaves
Answer somehow
Where are you wind now?
Where are you wind now?
