Actually at one time I was working on creating songs that used city names, either for love interest or just a physical location in the song. Abilene was just perfect, should be the chosen song for Abilene Texas. Can you imagine how an Abilene radio station would love to spin this one a few thousand times

Written many years ago, I was pleased to use the city of Abilene as a female love interest. Yet at the same time, one could easily be a native of Abilene and always think of this song. It has a slight California swing feel but very rooted in the Texas groove. A demanding and energetic chorus starts off the tune and by the half way point the listener is singing along.
