Story Behind The Song
Over You was written around the last line of each verse...."out of touch, out of tune, and out of time". Once that cadence and repetition was established it was just a matter of creating the story to support it. Lost love and heartache always seem to be such a breeze to write about. If we haven't lived it we all know someone who has. This song was just begging for a hot electric guitar (thanks Tommy Nash) and was quite a kick in the pants to record.
Song Description
Remember what it was like to be young? Over You is a heartbreaking story of a one sided relationship -much more real to him than it was to her. Perhaps his naivety is to blame for his over exuberance, or maybe he's just another victim of being the younger in a mis-matched relationship Regardless where the fault lies, he'll surely drive himself to his grave if he can't find a way to put it all behind him and move on.
Ah, to be young and foolish. Makes for great writing material.

OVER YOU
I was just eighteen, you were twenty-two
Lookin? for a little romance, when I met you
I held my breath, I held your hand
You took me out, took me home, and took me down
Then you went away, and left me solitude
You stole my heart, I still love you
Lost my job, even lost my mind
I was out of touch, out of tune, and out of time
Chorus:
Now I?m still getting? over you
And I?ve turned every shade of blue
Girl you sure taught me a thing or two
And I may never get over you
I spend my days, thinkin? ?bout that night
Too often wrong, so seldom right
If things don?t change, guess where I?ll be
On the run, on the skids, and on the street
River of tears, falls from my eyes
Nowhere to run, nowhere to hide
Maybe you?ll come back, one day to me
To set me down, set me straight, and set me free
Chorus:
Now I?m still getting? over you
And I?ve turned every shade of blue
Girl you sure taught me a thing or two
And I may never get over you
I will never get over you
