Story Behind The Song
Southeast Texas is replete with ghost stories. Stories about hitchhikers, children on traintracks, widows haunting rivers, and ghosts on the coasts. This song is based on a story one of my older cousins told me as a kid. He talked about seeing a woman in old-fashioned clothes walking alone on the beach very late at night as he drove with some friends. Thinking that seemed odd, they turned around at the next sand dune to see if she needed help or a ride. But when they rounded the dune, she was nowhere to be seen.
Song Description
Lounging on the beach, a guy realizes that the beach is haunted by a fun-loving ghost who teases him with a sort of hide-and-seek game.

Lyrics
Gabriella
by: Andrew Garcia
Verse I
I thought I caught her on the water off the Gulf Coast of Texas
as she was walking on the waves with a martini from Paris.
But then, the sun was in my eyes...
Can you imagine my surprise to realize I'd been dreaming?
Chorus
They say that Gabriella's spirit's caught in time.
Trapped between the world where she belongs,
and the world that is mine.
Verse II
Sat up and looked around, remembering that I was on the beach.
The tide was creeping up on me...and so was she...
just barely out of reach.
And as she streched out on the sand
slowly reaching out her tender hand
I could hear myself breathing.
Verse III
An old man walking on the beach looked up at me,
and scrutinized my face.
Then smiled as he realized I didn't know the magic of
this place.
He looked up at the Sun and marked its rise.
And slowly turned to look me in the eye.
He said, "I know what you're feeling."
Chorus II
"Some believe they're held behind by tragedy and strife.
But, Gabriella stayed because she loved
the fullness of life."
