Story Behind The Song
Just wanted to write something that shows the down side of being in a military family. You see and hear all these songs and stories about all the bravery and honor that military families exhibit. But I know many vets from many wars and the story of my song is more common than the glorious side of serving in a war.

Lyrics
God Bless America
There was my Father
He was called to war
They taught him how to kill
And then nothing more
There was his lover
Mother to us all
She struggled to survive
With hardly any help at all
And then this soldier
This soldier came home
Never was a hero
Ever left so alone
Now we're all together without each other
With a big black hole that used to be my father
He started drinking
He's never stopped
Then came the pills, the cocaine
The meth and pot
And then his lover
Just couldn't take his side
When he cries about his life
And laughs about suicide
Now we're all together without each other
With a big black hole that used to be my father
You know we'd give it all away
Just to have Dad back the way
The way Dad was before
But now we know
We finally see
That's not the way it's going to be
Daddy's still dying in the war
Daddy's still dying in the war
Daddy's still dying in the war
Daddy's still dying in the war
God Bless America
