Story Behind The Song
In the late night, early morning hours after a road gig in Philadelphia, PA, I walked through the expansive but desolate lobby of a hotel I was staying at and found a grand piano in an adjoining ballroom. After playing it for awhile I started feeling the loneliness and hopelessness of my life.
Song Description
This song is about a man's realization that he may never achieve his life's ambitions and dreams, romantic or otherwise. Something, maybe even likely himself (notice the long piano intro) is keeping him from reaching his goals.

Lyrics
HOPELESSLY
(Long Solo Piano Intro)
Painfully,
Thoughts about you drifting
Slowly through my mind
Once there was a time
Patiently,
Knowing I'll forget
The memories of my past
Love can never last
Never will be love
I'll never see love
I feel for you
What can I do?
Life is a shame, oh
No one to blame, no
I feel for you
What should I do?
I'm loving you
Hopelessly
Endlessly,
Heartache feel it hurting
Head down to my feet
With every pulsing beat
Hopelessly,
I hang onto a dream of
Love that we once made
The picture soon will fade
Never will be love
I'll never see love
I feel for you
What can I do?
Life is a shame, oh
No one to blame, no
I feel for you
What should I do?
I'm loving you
Hopelessly
(Keyboard Leads)
Never will be love
I'll never see love
I feel for you
What can I do?
Life is a shame, oh
No one to blame, no
I feel for you
What should I do?
I'm loving you
Hopelessly
I feel for you
What should I do?
I'm loving you
Hopelessly
