Story Behind The Song
Okay, this is a somewhat deranged track--but I gotta say I love it! It's the product of a midnight jam. It begs the question: How long can you go with just three chords?
It all started when I was experimenting with different effects for bass. Found a nice stereo echo, added chorus and some drive, began playing some riffs, and--presto--this was born! Guitar part completely improvised on the spot, lyrics quickly scribbled down at 1:00 a.m.
Just guitar, bass, & drums (and slightly deranged vocals!)
Instruments used:
*Guild S60 (single humbucker) played with a stereo echo effect
*Fender (Squier) Jaguar SS bass played with a stereo echo and two chorus effects.
Play this one loud!

Lyrics
Car Guitar Far
Words & music by Timothy Walsh
So I'm driving in my car, driving in my car,
and I pull up tight at the light.
And I glance to my left, glance to my right,
and I see a beautiful sight.
Now she looks at me--she looks at me--
and says that's a really hot car.
And I look at her, I look at her,
and I say I play the guitar! Let's go!
CHORUS: It's car guitar far! Car guitar far!
So we're cruising down the road, cruising down the road,
and she says would you let me drive?
So you can play guitar, you can play guitar,
while we're cruising along in the night.
So I say alright--I say alright!--
and I pull up close to the curb.
But soon as I get out--soon as I get out--
she peels off into the night! Let's go!
CHORUS: It's car guitar far! Car guitar far!
Man, oh man! Let me tell you!
Let me tell you man!
So I'm standing in the road--standing in the road--
in the middle of the freaking night!
And I turn to my left, turn to my right,
and I think.....Jeez, man! Oh man!
So I start walking back--start walking back
when I see a beautiful sight.
She's coming back--she's coming back--
and she pulls up tight to the light.
And she smiles at me--smiles at me--
and she says "have you got a light?"
And she says I got this car, got this here guitar,
shall we ride off into the night? Let's go!
CHORUS: It's car guitar far! Car guitar far!
