Story Behind The Song
I wrote this song especially for Amanda Sanderson of Newcastle, England, so we could have something to sing together. Was floored when I first heard Amanda's incredible vocals--especially her SoundCloud collabs with Kevin Pope, and her live, living room recording of "Farewell to the Gold," which melts my heart each time I hear it.
Collaborating was a little dicey, since I'm still recording on a Zoom R8 recorder--no DAW yet. Big thanks to Kevin Pope for his help getting Amanda's side of things done in Newcastle so expertly (as well as his advice on how to do the collab!)
Instruments used:
--Martin Dreadnought Jr. played with an echo effect
--Michael Kelly Bubinga jumbo acoustic played with a delay effect
--Lead guitar is my '78 Guild S60 played through a Fender Supersonic amp
--Fender (Squier) Jaguar SS bass

Lyrics
Saturday Blues
Words & music by Timothy Walsh
I cannot show you around...my life
pictures of you always around...
never a moment....
when you're out of mind.
I do not say you can't be...my wife,
just that you don't disagree...
we are both drifters...
not the marrying kind.
Chorus:
Saturday blues....
that's all you say is the matter.
Saturday blues...
but what are we gonna do?
You say that you cannot go... back now...
to girlhood dreams of a future...
...of a husband...and a little white house.
I wish you'd tell me if you knew how...
to do it all over again...
...when you're life's just...a tattered old blouse.
Chorus:
Saturday blues....etc.
I do not pray anymore...for my life.
Tell me you won't disappear...
not for another...
you won't twist that knife.
Why can't I be with you here tonight?
You know much better than me...
I'll be gone from here...at very first light.
Chorus:
Saturday blues....etc.
Show me you're feeling that you'd...settle down.
Maybe I'd settle down with you...
far from this city...
in some perfect town.
I laugh and say, hey you know, you're right!
What if we hit the road now...
...down this asphalt...to the edge of night?
