Story Behind The Song
A song for our world as it teeters on the brink. Playing a Merlin dulcimer guitar here. Recorded this "live" at home with my wife and cat listening--a single take on a stereo track, singing and playing the dulcimer guitar. Later added the bass track and the lead guitar (my '78 Guild S-60).

***Whistling While the World Ends***
Words & music by Timothy Walsh
Here we are, all together
on this earth wondering how we could be
whistling while the world ends.
Moon is high above the mountains,
the stars are shining down upon the debris.
The waters rise and flood the cities.
The rich are fleeing to their walled retreats.
Whistling while the world ends.
Rain is flooding down the hillsides,
landslides where our forests used to be.
Wars are raging across the planet.
Refugees are stopped at borders by guns.
Whistling while the world ends.
Famine rages killing millions
while the politicians drink their tea.
Now we sit around a fire,
wondering how we ever got here to see
whistling while the world ends.
The planet shakes off this human scourge
like a little dog afflicted with fleas.
Here we are, altogether,
on this earth wondering how we could be
whistling while the world ends.
Moon is high above the mountains,
the stars are shining down upon the debris.
