Story Behind The Song
Here's an alternative version of "Winter Trees"--not a re-mix, a whole new recording. I was messing around with guitar effects pedals, and fell into this slow, spooky version of "Winter Trees" that I liked, so kept going with it....... All the effects are through guitar effect pedals (Zoom G3n and Zoom A3) plus amp effects. Recorded to a Zoom R8 recorder (no synths, no loops, no DAW).......
Guitars used: Two acoustic (Taylor 114e and Michael Kelly J91 Jumbo) and two electric (Gretsch 5622T and Guild S60), plus Fender Jaguar SS bass.

Lyrics
Winter Trees GHOST version
Words & music by Timothy Walsh
Walking out by the willow tree,
walking out just you and me... I know....I know...
that there is nothing we can do
as the sky turns midnight blue...again.... Again.
Chorus:
We're looking out at these winter trees and
I can feel the roots beneath our feet--
the underworld runs so deep.
Looking out at these winter trees and
I can feel my soul spill through the sky.
Now I know how trees can fly...so high.
Walking out by the old oak tree,
walking out and you told me your life...your life
is nothing but a candle flame
flickering in the wind until the end...the end.
Chorus:
We're looking out at these winter trees and, etc.
Bridge:
Looking out here and you don't say it.
Looking out here and I could pray it.
Looking out here at these winter trees.
Seeing clearer in the twilight.
Seeing deeper cause there's no light.
Seeing that we're just two winter trees.
Walking out by the green yew tree,
walking out so you can see the way...the way
it thrives in winter, never dies,
roots run deep into the skies below...below.
(Instrumental Chorus)
Sitting under the sweetgum tree,
I played guitar so I could be within...within
the sound of the woodgrain when
it comes alive and wakes you and you sing...you sing.
Chorus:
We're looking out at these winter trees and...etc.
