Story Behind The Song
This was one of my first country tunes. My father was an alcoholic and my mother was co-dependent. I always wished my mother would have told my father that he couldn't come home if he was drinking, but she never did. In this song-- she did. Maybe my father would have stopped drinking.

Lyrics
No Road from the Barroom
Penelope Torribio
The phone rings, it's midnight and it's you again.
You're crying say you're lonely and you need a friend.
But I can hear the juke box in a honky-tonk some where.
You're wanting to come home,
but you can't get here from there.
You can't get from the barroom back into my heart.
You can't get from the barstool to my bed.
No matter how much you say you care,
you just can't get back home from there,
There's no road from the barroom to my heart.
Billy, Sue and Joey they're OK.
They ask about their daddy every single day.
But you call up a drinking from a honky-tonk somewhere.
you're wanting to come home but
you can't get here from there.
You can't get from the barroom back into my heart.
You can't get from the barstool to my bed.
No matter how much you say you care,
you just can't get back home from there,
There's no road from the barroom to my heart.
There's no road from the barroom to my heart.
