Story Behind The Song
This is the first song that I recorded a demo of. Lyrically, this song doesn't really make a lot of sense but I see it as finding a way out of all the crap that people have given you. I came up with the piano intro one day while I was messing about on the piano. The rest of the song was made when I planned the chord progression and I came up with the vocal melody. This is a song I found quite easy to write. You could say it wrote itself - the writing process flowed really well.
I tried to give this song a sense of ambiguity ; a feeling of sadness but also a feeling of happiness. I showed this by basing the song in Eb Major (the key I find the most depressing) and using a lot of chords not related to the key. The F# chord at "Where did it go wrong.." is probably the best example of the depressing/happy concept.
