Story Behind The Song
Noticing that a lot of people enjoy the mantra "Carpe Diem" ("Seize The Day"), I tried to write a song about a person who might take it a little too far without thought of consequence. Many of my friends in music found it easy to live for today, but didn't plan too well for the future. They thought they were invincible back then... but today is a different story, and they are scared.
Song Description
Song about someone whose reckless and overly adventurous nature has finally caught up to them, and now the heat is on. Optimal vibe for a chase scene, intro to action show or film, etc. Very brisk and straightforward rock guitar song during the verses, but symphonically heavy during the verses. The bridge is stripped way down after a particularly noisy guitar solo section, and leads in nicely to an extended chorus variation to end off the song. Lyrics
NINTH LIFE JITTERS
You used to be invincible
You used to be unkillable
I want to tell you about a big surprise
Bittersweet and kind of small in size
A mix of freedom and compromise
Right between the eyes
CHORUS: Eight down and one to go
The fact you?ve made it this long is a miracle
With eight down and one to go
You?d better get your trouble under control
You finally realized they?re out to get ya?
You?ve got the Ninth Life Jitters
And you used to seem unstoppable
And I used to think you were undroppable
You had a good run of crazy luck
But you were restless and you got torn up
Too proud to fold, so they called your bluff
And now you know you?re stuck here with the rest of us
CHORUS
Come on and get yourself together, man
You must adapt
Get yourself a new plan
You used to be invincible
You used to be unkillable
You used to be collisional
And I think you used to be a little mental
You used to be? invincible
unkillable
collisional
precisional
intentional
unconventional
detentional
torrential
And it seems you?re right here with the rest of us
Like all good things, your end is eventual
