Story Behind The Song
I guess I just looked into a mirror and wrote this song. Strange thing though, I used a guitar to write this song. Piano is my instrument.
Song Description
I wanted to write a song that dealt with this issue but I didn't want to get too sentimental. It deals with the development of my life in the verses. The chorus deals with the repeated theme of holding on to the past and knowing where you come from.

Lyrics
(Verse 1)
Just a simple story about a simple man
Living his life as best as he can
He had two older sisters, who broke his parents in
And by the time he learned to walk the middle of the kin
Fell ill, they cried, it seemed like she would die.
But she, pulled through, and so, they never let go.
(Chorus)
Oh the years pass by and everyone can say
I hope that things get better each and every day
But even if the outcomes don?t seem to come out right
Hold on and don?t let go?Keep your past in sight.
(Verse 2)
By the time he started school his father taught him right
He learned his abc?s by day and everything else at night
His mama gave him all she could and his sisters might have felt
He got the better of the deal, the cards they all were dealt
But they, stayed close, he grew and changed and stayed the same.
They shared, one thing, the family name. (to chorus)
(Verse 3)
As the years passed by, he started up a life,
He bought a home, he wrote some songs, and he married his wife
And then one day his daddy died and he never was the same
Suddenly he was the last to bear the family name
But he, stayed strong, held on, he didn?t shed a tear.
He learned, a lifetime of lessons that year. (to chorus)
(Bridge)
Now he?s older and wiser and minus his wife
But it won?t phase him ?cause he?s starting a new and hopeful life (to chorus)
