Story Behind The Song
The song is influenced by Asops fable about the ant and the grasshopper. The ant works all summer to get ready for winter while the grasshopper fiddles the summer away. I sometimes remind myself of the grasshopper.
Song Description
The song is about the on coming of winter. Its' written in a waltz tempo in the key of C. It has an interesting arrangement,(four verses, two different bridges. a one line repeating chorus and a tag at the end). I am painting a picture with words in the lyric that puts you in the mind of main character.

Lyrics
verse#1
Now the leaves on the trees
Are ready for falling
And the cold north wind
Is aching to blow
And the geese in flight
Are to me calling
Somehow they just seem to know
chorus
You better look-out boy
Here comes the snow
verse#2
The crickets are over
In the tall grass singing
So rythmically
So soft and slow
And I understand the message their bringing
As it echoes across the valley below
chorus
bridge#1
Yeah nature your a crafty old lady
You always got something
Hid up your sleeve
From the sunshine
To the thunderheads shady
Your so easy to look at
And yet your so hard to believe
verse#3
And the black birds are in a southerly
Direction flying
No bags to pack
They just up and go
Oh their selling dreams
And I guess I'm buying
Watch them waving aidiose amigos
As they sing
chorus
bridge#2
I suppose I could just sit here all day
Thats the one thing I do quite well
I aint got one thing earth-shaking to say
Is it a crime?
Am I wasting my time?
Only time will tell
verse#4
So I twiddle my thumbs
Tap my foot and whistle
As I think about the wild oats
I'd like to sow
My minds' floating away
Like a seed from a thistle
Just going wherever it goes
chorus
Wake-up and look-out boy
Here comes the snow
