Story Behind The Song
The lyrics are sort of a play on the word "repentance' wihich literally means 'turn around". The song reflects on some times when the direction I was going was not working so at some point I had to try something different.

Lyrics
Repentance
I turned and walked the other way when I finally saw the light
About the road that I was traveling,
How it was headed some place that just wasn?t right for me.
So I let that plan go free and never looked back again.
I turned and walked the other way.
I turned and walked the other way when I saw that all was lost
And the price I?d have to pay
For a victory that was not worth the cost. Oh, no!
So I gave it all the old heave-ho. I wiped the dust off my feet
And turned and walked the other way.
Sometimes I think I know myself until reality gets in the way.
I beat my head against my foolish pride until I decide
to let it ride and live to fight another day,
live to fight another day.
I turned and walked the other way when I looked inside my heart
And saw the darkness and the pain,
Then I saw the road that would lead to a brand new start. So I ran.
I?m just trying to be a better man and never look back again.
I turned and walked the other way.
