Lyrics

Till the End (Sept 11 Tribute)

Verse 1:
It was just another Tuesday morning.
He showered and dressed for work, grabbed his coffee and drank it on the run.
Riding into Manhattan things seemed normal.
He took time to reflect. Had he remembered to kiss his wife goodbye?
And then the elevator doors opened on the hundred and third floor.
He walked in to start his day just like a thousand times before.

Verse 2:
She was waiting in line at the pre-school.
Her children were laughing. The radio played her favorite song.
Then a man broke in with trembling voice to tell her of a horrible accident,
a plane crash at Tower Number Two.
And then her heart jumped to her throat because she knew that?s where he?d be.
As she reached for her cell phone it started ringing.

Bridge 1:
He said, "I love you but I think I?ll never see you again.
I just had to let you know that I loved you till the end."
While somewhere in the world the face of terror smiled.
It said, "We?ve brought her to her knees. Let?s watch her suffer for a while."

Chorus:
But we all knelt together and we all joined hands together.
And we all prayed together.
We were Americans once again and we loved them till the end.

Verse 3:
As the firemen rushed into the towers they didn?t think of themselves.
All they knew was they had a job to do.
They helped thousands of strangers survive they could?ve saved themselves
but they stayed as it all came crashing down.
Though we may never know their stories we just can?t forget the way
they reminded us that freedom isn?t free with their lives they paid.

Bridge 2:
While those who loved them dearly may not see them again.
We just have to let them know we really loved them till the end.
And somewhere in the world the face of terror smiled.
It said, "We?ve brought her to her knees. Let?s watch her suffer for a while."

Chorus
But we all knelt together and we all joined hands together.
And we all prayed together.
We were Americans once again and we loved them till the end.

Yes, we all knelt together and we all joined hands together.
And we all prayed together.
We were Americans once again and we loved them till the end.
