Story Behind The Song
It's just a thing we threw together when playing in my living room, around the piano and with old friends and my kids (who also play). My sister DID get married on a riverboat, on the James River in Richmond, Virginia, when the harmonica player on this song was dressed like Angus Young but less than two years old and a dancing fool that all the adults were afraid might leap off the side of the boat during the reception, in his enthusiasm for music itself.
Song Description
An acoustic pop tune with guitars, dobros, pianos, about the kind of riverboats one finds on the Ohio in Louisville and Cincinnati, all along the Kentucky shore, where I grew up.

Lyrics
Riverboat, I want to ride on a riverboat (2x)
Riverboat, my sister got married on a riverboat
Note for note, this whole song is about a riverboat
Delta Queen and the Belle
In between the paddlewheel, calliope
The antlers gold
Trophy to the winner
And she wears it well
Riverboat, you walk right beside a riverboat
In my coat, my mother took that picture by a riverboat
This boat will float, but no canoe is steady like a riverboat
Note for note, just like a dance band on a riverboat
