Christmas is for Children
A poem by Barb Billiter written 12/5/1951
Music - Rob Allison
Christmas is for children
who toss and turn in their sleep
As the eve of Christmas wanes?
so slowly the hours creep
How long it took for shinning eyes
to fill with sleeping sand,
As if they knew what they would miss?
once they?d gone to slumber land.
Sweet little round mouths and fat little cheeks
are creased with sleepy smiles
As they vision toys and gifts from Santa,
they hope piles upon piles
Suddenly it?s here!
The dawn has finally come?
down the stairs they scramble
To see if Santa?s work is done.
At the threashold they pause?
Oh! What a wonderful sight!
How could dear Santa?
do this in one single night!
There?s nothing so dear?
as the face of a child
To know you?ve given happiness?
tho for only a while.
Just one parting word, for you to give thought.
If they can believe?can you not?
