Fly Away

Story Behind The Song

I wrote this one for my kids and the effect Covid-19 has had on their lives. The loss of a final semester of High School Senior year and Varsity soccer for my youngest daughter and then having to take a gap year for going off to college. The cancellation of my oldest daughter's wedding ceremony and reception. All the care and planning their ceremony and reception for 240 friends and family reduced to a marriage with just the two of them by a justice of the peace.

Lyrics

You never know for sure
So don't let that get in your way
And It's OK to feel insecure
Just believe in yourself
And take a leap of faith.

My, my, I love to watch you fly
Spread your wings and sail into the sky
My, my I love to watch you fly away!
Fly away!

We never know how far
A wish must travel when it's wished upon a star
But I know where a million pennies are
At the bottom of a wishing well
Wishing you the stars.

My, my, I love to watch you fly
Spread your wings and sail into the sky
My, my I love to watch you fly away!
Fly away!

Through the darkest night
When you can't find the light
To guide you on your way
Remember I have faith
In you
And I know
You'll fly away!

My, my, I love to watch you fly
Spread your wings and sail into the sky
My, my I love to watch you fly away!
Fly away!
