Story Behind The Song
I came up with the idea for this song way back in High School, and haven't really worked on it for over 25 years. It was conceived as a straight pop style song. Not long ago, I saw a listing on Broadjam that I was interested in, and as I went through my list of song ideas for something that would fit, I felt that this song would work if it was done in a swinging jazz style. I refined the verses I had and added a couple more. The two bridges were originally written as one B-section, but I felt that it was too long and split it into two sections that seem to provide a nice contrast to the verses. I produced it modeling Sara Bareilles' "Love Song", and I'm very happy with how it turned out.
