I remember on Sunday mornings, as a little girl in church with my papa,
Listening to the church choir sing, and papa saying hun, let the music own ya',
Then the preacher say; "stand for the hymn", my papa saying; let the singing begin,
I'd open up my hymnal, stand up straight, and sing the notes right off the page.

As I sat in church on Sunday morning, listening to the choir singing an anthem,
I don't think that they were always in tune, it didn't matter cause my foot was a tapping,
Than the ushers would pass the plate, I'd put my quarter in and sit and wait,
For the next hymn to come along, I'd sing with papa, loud and strong.

I go to church now with my own children, papa left us and he's gone to Jesus,
Wondering if he hears his grandchildren sing, those good ole hymns that he taught me?
My little boy sounds just like his grandpa, voice of an angel with every note,
If I listen close I can hear papa, singing up in heaven with all of us.
